Tralala

Tralala

Contributor: Joel Edelman

Remember the Hi-Fives? Did you ever wish that they had four really hot women in the band? I did, and they would have sounded just like Tralala do.

This self-titled gem is better than orangutans playing Scrabble. The first track, "All Fired Up," does that to me.

When I got this CD, I went to volleyball an hour early so I could sit in the parking lot and listen to this album first. I didn't want to play that night. I just wanted to sit in the car, draining the battery while listening to one of the best albums I have heard all year.

"The Girls Say" is even better than everything else is. It reminds me of an East Coast version of All Girl Summer Fun Band. It has harmonies and people clapping. What more do you need?

People that don't believe that you can hear how much fun a band is having also think a curveball is an illusion. Well, stand behind that tree, and I will play you an illusion. We'll call it "Everybody's Doin' Fine." I bet when the band is sad about something -- maybe a kitten was put to sleep -- they practice this song, and then they all feel better.

"Hey!" is a slower song and catchy, but maybe not worth catching, like bird flu. To be clear, even the bad songs are good. If this song were on a Donnas album, I would have thought that it was about time that they made something good. Tralala set the bar so high for themselves that they ought to be allowed one less-than-perfect song.

"Like This" is the last track and one of the best. Even when my CD skips, it still sounds good.

Tralala are not here to write life-changing lyrics or come up with ridiculous time signatures. They are here to entertain and sound exciting. Well, when it comes to that, they are guilty as charged.
