DiViNCi

Peacez 2 Be and Instru-frag-mentalism

Contributor: Eli Ellsworth

DiViNCi is a masterful jack-of-all-trades when it comes to music and art. His commanding skill, versatility and style span a broad, yet impressive, spectrum. An extremely capable engineer, producer, programmer, poet, improvisational performance artist, musician and instrumentalist, DiViNCi catapults sampledelic experimental beatdowns to stratospheric hip-hop extremism.

Primarily a solo performer, Divinci lends his considerable talents to the East Coast’s sensational Sol.Illoquist of Sound. Peacez 2 Be & Intru-frag-mentalism is a 27-track masterpiece, meant to demonstrate his agile dexterity and creative ability. DiViNCi is perhaps the only artist daring enough to use two MPC2000XL’s (a hybrid sampler/drum machine) as an instrument. Oftentimes such devices are pre-programmed with numerous sequences but not when this man is at the helm.

Watch his engaging operation as he hops wildly about and manipulates these machines with charismatic precision. He discharges every last ounce of energy while dropping the dope groove with his hands, face and feet! A truly exhilarating showman to be sure, he is never a showoff. Peacez 2 Be & Instru-frag-mentalism attempts to capture this eccentric individual’s raw intensity.

Divinci has an astonishing ear for sound and knowledge of architecturally intriguing beats. Some tracks appear to be interludes between more elaborate compositions on this colossal cut collection, and influences include jazz, funk, eclectronica, hip-hop, soul and ambient. Favorites include “Chaka Bomb,” “Past? Future! Now,” “FLDM,” “Gnat,” “Push Beat” and “Suummmfrrring w/ CW3.”

If you doubt DiViNCi's credibility, consider some of the high caliber hip-hop heads he’s shared the stage with: KRS-One, Atmosphere, Pharoahe Monch, Cee-Lo, Jungle Brothers, Black Sheep, Phife Dawg, Lyrics Born, Sage Francis and Nappy Roots.

The Crown is moving
So I am finally accomplishing the lifelong goal of having my own TV show, which thanks to the Internet is entirely too easy. I am expecting to move all my comedic stylings to my new site, so I don't think I will be here as often as I was. Don't worry. I'll still be with Agouti. But I'll be blogging at my new site:

http://www.joelshitshow.com

Yeah. I already have a hit show. Or something like that. I am uploading the first episode now, and you will get to read all about it on my new site when it's done. I originally got broadband because I thought it would ban broads from using the Internet, but now I see there are better uses for it.
It's not always Fox News Channel that has bad reporting
Check out this headline from Yahoo!'s home page:

"Oil Rises Above $74 a Barrel"

Considering it's been above $74 for most of the past week, this is a very misleading headline. When it was $78 per barrel, that would have been the time for this type of headline.

Speaking of which, because of a recent pig-weighing scandal, the county fair has adopted a new slogan to get people to come back out:

"Fair, and balanced!"
It's a 20-cent listing day on eBay
Tomorrow is, too. Any auction or fixed-price listing that starts before midnight Pacific tomorrow night will be just 20 cents to list. What a freakin' deal. If it weren't so damn hot, I'd do something about it.
